Survivor Philippines this August on GMA 7

The reality show that started it all. After Pinoy Idol, another TV reality franchise will be launched by GMA 7 this coming August 2008. And that is, Survivor Philippines.

I heard that in this Philippine version, there will be 16 castaways divided into two tribes. And all of the castaways must outwit, outlast and outplay themselves for 39 days in a remote place. Just like its original version and its counterparts, during the game, the castaways will face different challenges consisting of endurance, problem solving, teamwork, dexterity, and/or willpower. The challenges may be a reward or immunity. In the immunity challenge, tribes or individual castaways compete in order not to be voted off from the game. And rewards will be won during the reward challenge. Who the heck didn’t know the game?

As I expected, Paolo Bediones is tapped as the host.

The big question now is, where in the Philippines would they possibly isolate these castaways? Hmmm, guessing starts right now…

Where to enter college?

Two months from now, you will be entering college, another chapter in life that needs to get serious (probably a little serious than highschool). Don’t worry. College life is not bland, hence it is exciting.

Probably, you are already firm with your chosen course. Whatever course you will take, you must choose the best school or university to go to. It is an edge for you when you apply for a job in the future if you finished a degree in a reputable and best university. Your chosen university is a stepping stone and the start of having a stable life financially.

In choosing the best university for you. Try to consider its affordability (well of course, its your parents money and you must spend it wisely), stability (the university is offering for decades and decades of excellent education and produced fine alumni), reputability (good image, and at least one of the best), and your heart.

University of the Philippines (UP) established in 1908

Diliman, Manila or Los Baños (outside Metro Manila) is one of the best universities in the whole Philippines. In fact, it ranked number one as the the country’s best school according to the study done by PRC and CHED and 299th in the world. It produced many alumni including Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Benigno Aquino, Loren Legarda, Juan Flavier, Lino Brocka, Ishmael Bernal, Pia Guanio, Karen Davila, Yeng Guiao, Bejie Paras, Ronnie Magsanoc and a lot lot more. It is government-owned so the tuition is not that affordable. Quality is here, guys.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) established in 1611

The oldest university in Asia is UST and older than Harvard of the US. If we are to complete the title, UST is the pontifical and royal catholic university of the Philippines. Yeah that HEAVY!! But they do accept other religion too. And hey, they are already preparing for its 400th foundation, an event to look for. The campus is located in España, Manila. Being a tiger means being an achiever. So GO USTE!

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) established in 1859

“Lux in Domino” (Light in the Lord) is its motto. The university boasts its greatest alumni, none other than the great Dr. Jose Rizal. Certainly, if you study here, rest assured that you are in great hands, and worthy of the big bucks you pay.

De La Salle University (DLSU) established in 1911

Facilities are at par from the rest? DLSU boasts of its new facilities to achieve its mission, “to become the leading research university in Southeast Asia”. If you want to go green, DLSU is for you.

No matter what school you choose, be proud of it. And it is not your school that will make you successful, but success depends on you. So make the best out of your college life and good luck.

Pinoys ready for HOOTERS

 

Sexy girls dressed in orange shorts and a white tank top is now ready to serve you.

 

Yes. That’s right fellow Pinoys. It is not an Adam Sandler movie but it is reality. Hooters will soon be ready to serve the Pinoy’s hungry tummies and, ehem, hungrier eyes? As it will launch its first restaurant in the country this year at the Fort in Taguig City. Some say it was already delayed for it was scheduled to open last February.

Vote Tubbataha Reef as one of the New 7 Natural Wonders

Please vote for the Tubataha Reef which is located at the southern tip of Philippines.  

Tubbataha is a reef made up of two atolls, north and south, located in the middle of the Sulu Sea. It is rich ecosystem and a sanctuary for marine life.

Superfriends with a Filipina maid

I saw this clip a couple of years ago when I was training in a call center in Makati. It was hilarious. This is a skit of Rex Naverrete, a Filipino US-based stand-up comedian, from one of his shows abroad.

The skit revolves around the life of Maritess, a Filipina native hired to be a housekeeper to – – – ehem, the SUPERFRIENDS. Yes, SUPERFRIENDS, which includes Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin, Super Twins, Flash Aquaman, and no less than the “Man of Steel himself”… Superman.

The clip shows the different experiences Maritess had at the Hall of Justice which are really hilarious. She thinks that Batman is gay with Robin as his boyfriend. She thinks that Superman is always trying to peep at her with his x-ray vision. And, Maritess can’ eat her favorite fish because of Aquaman.
